What kind of K'Nex contests would you like to see on the K'Nex Forum?

I think I can give some input on the weapons part,

Range, look and how easy it is to use should be the most important factors.

For the rest, maybe certain specific contests like, build a crane or something else found on a construction site. Or a CotY Contraption of the Year.

I would enter every ball machine contest, that is definitely a great idea. Thrill rides? maybe a shuttle coaster contest?(no continuous circuit)... Guns, Theme parks, whatever...

Hey... I think we need to get back into the idea of build off's.
With a few tweaks though.
Set period of time. Say like a week to build them.
Certain Requirements.
Started at the same time.
Between 2 people.

Another idea is the most useful item made out of K'nex. I've made an airsoft speed loader once for example.
I'd love to see gun contests. For example make the best war weapon (indoor and outdoor) or make the best replica of a real weapon.

Just brainstorming, but I think it would be neat idea if there was a set challenge that had to be completed with some sort of contraption. Sort of like a robotics challenge. It wouldn't have to be a robot, but (for example) something that could get an object from point A to point B in the easiest or quickest way. There could be just a simple challenge every month or so, or maybe a bigger challenge every couple of months. I know this isn't really a contest, but it's more of a competition and personally, I think this would require more creativity than just building with certain guidelines or restrictions. It would allow more freedom and innovation.

Again this is just a thought.

I like that idea. Good engineering practice since it requires you to problem solve.

How about a knex rube goldberg machine contest? There are tons of neat elements you can make with k'nex from ball tracks to launchers to just about anything. We could instate a minimum number of energy transfers or something like that and you could really go nuts. Just as an example, my senior year project for physics which was built in a few days:


just ignore us talking...there's a complete run and a few closeups after the first cut, and the rest is boring. Also i know i was very dependent on ball tracks, but hey i designed this literally last second and built it almost totally by myself in two days

i am new to this site and am a gunner and i would like to see an innovationist tournament . You know , where you have rounds where each round is a different subject such as guns, cars/automobiles , roller coasters, and ball machines.

I personally don't like rounds, because you don't know what you're going to have to build. I like contests where you only have to make one thing, and you know what you have to make.
