Default anyone doing relistic scale design on their projects?

Just wonder if anyone is doing models based on real world dimensions. The current K'nex minifig is 1& 5/8 inches tall, which yields a building scale of 1 foot equals 1/4 inches in length on a model In modeling this is called 1:48 scale. An old school K'nexman is 5 inches tall which yields a scale of one foot equals 3/4 of an inch. 1:16 scale. I'm currently working out a knex moc of my 94 dodge at both new and old Knexman scales. Same principle applies to scaling anything. If you want to do your local roller coaster (forgive me webmaster, this will be my only coaster posting) work out the model to real world ratio of your old school or new micro coaster car and then figure out the height and length you need from that ratio.

O.K. project underway, Dodge Spirit legnth 181.2 inches, width 68.1 inches, maximum height 53.5 inches.

Now gotta assemble length information on all rods, micro and standard, plus additions to length by measuring out to the midpoint of one connector hub mounted on one end.

So far it sounds like the oldschool K'nexman will be easier to build a Chrysler motors vehicle for. :-}.

Thumbs up

Usually I do not make things on scale because I always make my own design. But I do always make sure that those old school knexman fit in, so I guess I build at scale 1:16 then

Old school K'nexman scale is definitely easier on the fingers :-}. Got up to the Struxx sports car design in the 240 piece set and you've got a car that is 2 feet long and eight inches tall! Struxx failed commericially, but its goal was a supersized Knex style product and it did succeed at reaching supersize.

Can't really do that for ball towers (unless you copy a Rube Goldberg contraption EXACTLY).
