The first two of the Nascar series. I'm building them first according to instructions, then modifying one of them to be a four legged walker, using feet and rotation joints from Lego's Knight's Kingdom 2 Large scale figure kits (released about 5 years ago and also used in Exoforce and a few Bionicle sets). I figure it would be fun to race futuristic Nascar vehicles over a rugged 3-D race course.
![]() K'nex continues to focus on creating new and different contoured slopes, and a number of new elements show up in these first two Nascar sets. Biggest problem remains the spin of the wheels. both the standard and "super" axel bricks produce too much friction on their wheels. |

they were blowing out some knex at a store today so i picked up a set.
It some kind of alien robot creature. I figure he looks like wally lol. But there was a piece that I've never seen before and can be very useful on cars and such. Its a drive shaft thing. Both rods turn the same way. ![]() It also had quite a few of these big thick knex men hinges and stuff. I've always prefered using these hinges for coasters. Finished model.

It certainly does look a lot like WALL-E.

It's WALL-E's little brother!
He still has to grow a container though. And if ball machines eat green rods... I've must've done something wrong. I had like 1/6 or somehting of my green rods left (I guess, I have over 1000 green rods left and I yet have to count the amount in cyclo) And before that I must make the instructions on the elements AND before that I got to finish my examinations... but before that I got to study. By the way, what math are you doing on the book? Can't read it well. |

completely offtopic:

But there was a piece that I've never seen before and can be very useful on cars and such. Its a drive shaft thing. Both rods turn the same way This is the Knex transmission, used in a number of the amusement park sets done a few years back. The Moto bot series brought back this useful piece as well as the heavy duty ball joints. A word of caution. Once these are joined together don't separate them, unlike the smaller standard ball joints these have enough torque they tend to snap the socket part to pieces when you separate them. Great for building mecha. |

A follow-up on the Nascar sets just received. Each set includes a large fold-out instruction sheet which doubles as a Nascar wall-poster of the featured driver. Knex continues to expand its list of "lego" elements with 1x1 plates, 2x2 tiles, 2x2x2 curved corner bricks and 1x2x2 curved slopes (the latter elements for forming the curved front of the racecar.) The only micro-K'nex elements are the frame for holding up the roof panel.
K'nex is big on internal combustion vehicles this year. Besides the Nascar line there will be a Monster Jam truck line and the re-birth of their fabled Orange Country Choppers line. |

Thanks for the info. All I see in the store are coasters and vehicles.

Knex has released 2 new lines, four sets per line. Construction Crew, four sets the size of introductory brick sets each creating an earthmoving vehicle, each with a minifig, and Monster Trucks, four small sets more in the line of the x-battlers or x-racers. These are not the coming series of Monster Jam licensed models of real monster trucks, but small 50+ piece sets of small trucks with jaws, eyes and teeth. Twin serpent (set10713) features a two headed snake at the front of the vehicle. The eyes for the 4 monster sets are made from contoured plates, a new Knex element first used in the 20 model Dinosaur set released last year. Likewise all the "monster" trucks have teeth, using the teeth pins released with the aforementioned Dinosaur set. Knex has learned its lesson and now uses the "super" axle bricks for these vehicles. (super bricks and plates have studs 3 times higher than normal for construction bricks, creating a rock solid connection) The Nascar sets apparently will be the last to use the earlier axles, and they have overcome the problem there by using plates in the builds for the two racecars.

I'm having my doubts if Larry is a real person or not just some sort of news feed from the K'nex website
![]() Your replies are really useful and I'm glad we have someone like you to keep us up-to-date. You are a great person to this site! |

^LOL, for a moment I thought you were talking about me.
I actually went out and got a second Octopus Whirl and a Super Swing (both from the Amusement Park series) a few days ago. I figured they'd be useful because I'm trying something new for my next ball machine (and those of you who have read my post elsewhere know what I'm doing with it).

Comments and a third new series release from K'nex. I picked up two of the new 4 set construction crew series today, set 1 the excavator and set 4 the backhoe. Theses are approximately 115 piece vehicle builds, mostly brick of course, and feature several new pieces. Each set comes with bricks and micro rods, a brick separator tool, and a 16x16 earthen brown baseplate. As brick builders know, baseplates are indispensible for any brick building system, and this is an opaque version of the baseplate introduced 2 years ago in the picture brick series. Also included are the new 1x2x2 45 degree slopes and 1x1 plates introduced last month in the Nascar sets, and new in this set, the knex 1x3 33 degree slope, which features a stud indented at both top and bottom for an iron grip.
Plus knex has a 3rd 4 box series out this month, micro-bots, a 4 volume successor to the Moto bots series released last year. each has about 120 pieces with about a 50/50 mix of brick and micro-knex elements, the new super colorful tires that fit the transition hubs (one side clutches standard knex, on side clutches microknex) can be retrofitted to earlier Knex vehicle builds, and the standard 3volt Knex motor is included. And cheap, $11 per set (I picked up 3 today). Coming tomorrow, comments on set 13530, an all standard Knex set that was released in the U.K. but apparently not in the U.S. Found it at Big Lots. For those who miss the sets of all standard Knex pieces check out this set released in 2009 35 Model Challenge with 350+ pieces, including 3 sizes of panels! Instructions on the web, although I am currently running into problems downloading the file. Includes a Knex version of a Star Wars rebel starfighter.
Just discovered this a.m. Set number 61024 Fire Rescue, a brick oriented 120+ piece 10 build set, introducing the new version of the Knex spring motor, the brick version mounted in a brick studded case, for adaptation to any brick build, Knex or otherwise.

Have you a link to that 35 model one? I'd like to see what set you're talking about.

You might need to search the Tomy U.K. website for pictures. Knex USA doesn't have a graphic on the set, but does have a pdf for the 35 builds available.
