Wow, just noticed on the Tomy website (Knex's distributor for the U.K. and EU that the microbot sets sell in the U.K. for 15 pounds sterling. That's about double the price in the U.S.

Wink

Finally tracked down the new K'nex 10 model fire rescure set 61024/71184. Like others in the 10 model series, 5 of the models are in the book, the other 5 are available on-line. This set features the new 45 and 33 degree curved slopes used first in the Nascar series, and also introduces the K'nex brickbased friction motor. This patented for 2010 part is half the size of the two battery powered brick motors, features both standard and "super" (triple height studs to insure a rock solid clutch in builds, and comes with the wheel locking cone-rod assemblies separate from the motor, so you must assemble them before using. The set contains 34 micro-knex components, 4 K'nex pieces, 70 brick components, 5 pins, 1 transition rod, 4 dual sized knex hubs (with the requisite tires) and a knex brick separator.

The new brick-oriented K'nex line continues to release new product at an awesome pace...

Do you plan to build the original coaster? I have the set, but have never built the default coaster.

Exclamation Tons of K'nex

Here are some updates on my new sets:

My incomplete Screamin' Serpent was never posted, but now it is. Check out this new Motorized Madness Ball Machine I got for my birthday in late Febuary! Here's a video I filmed of it:
YouTube- My Knex Motorized Madness Ball MachineWith my birthday money I bought a CyberK'Nex Cybots set with only a few rods & connectors missing for a grand total of $22! LOL! The next, and most recent sets are the K'nex Hyperspace Commando Outpost and the 250 piece value tub! I might make a vid of the outpost because it's 5 feet tall!
............................................And this was only $15!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I found this yesterday at a flea market for only 25 euro's. There's a SS coaster, 2 complete solar motors, and a bunch of other sets. I wasn't really looking for knex but since it was not very expencive...

^Nice stuff, but I would have chosen the orange track instead if I were you. Is the red track a single piece, or 2x 4m?

Default Orange County Choppers redux

K'nex issued a new round of Orange County Choppers a few months back, 3 1/6 th scale bikes using standard size K'nex pieces, and 2 1/10th scale bikes using micro-K'nex pieces. Only one of the 5 bikes was different from the sets released 5 years ago, and the larger bikes lacked the sound chips in the engine blocks and the led's in the headlights found 5 years ago.

These are a throw-back to pre-brick Knex vehicles...customized gas tanks, saddles, engine blocks, headlights (big scale only) and fenders.

As a licensed product, the price was high, but I waited a few months, they didn't sell, and TRU clearanced them out at half price. These sets are a good source of end caps for rods and double socketed axels.

Just assembled Stig's Track Car and Bike 29026/71720, one of the Top Gear series under BBC license.

This one introduces a new brick-based airdamn to replace the rod mounted airdamn on early K'nex wheel racer sets. Medium length micro-scale spacers are used to make the dual scale wheel hubs ride smoothly in both the car and the motorcyle. There is a design error in attaching the outer frame of the track car to the car body. You are supposed to be able to send a yellow micro rod through two 1x2 technic bricks and attach it to connectors on either end of the frame. Not quite enough clearance. You either need to leave one end of the rod free (a poor choice) or use only one 1x2 brick, which doesn't provide as secure a connection. K'nex needs to have two employees separately assemble a prototype kit before going ahead and selling it. Inexperienced kids would be turned off the K'nex brand by mistakes like this.

Asside from the above error, this set and the other Top Gear sets are pretty good.

How many vehicular construction licenses can K'nex run at one time? Nascar, Monster Truck, Top Gear, Mario Wii, Orange County Choppers, plus their mini creature cars, the large vehicle sets, and their basic brick urban vehicle sets!.

So my aunt picked up a lot of knex for me yesterday. It's supposed to be 43 kg. (I saw it on marktplaats and asked her if she could get it for me since she lives close to the seller's place) I'll post a picture of it once I get it here. I can't wait! :P

Just picked up Rippin' Rocket 2, one of the anniversary sets. 560+ pieces, 400 or so are standard scale. Its a roller coaster using the new track with plenty of curves, and a wheel excellerator designed for the new coaster system.
