I'm working on a launched coaster on SSC.

I remade my AR-4 v3 and am currently modding it. The firing pin broke due to too many bands so I can fix that first by adding more tape.

I'm just wondering... Do you often break pieces when you make guns?
(I never make guns)

EDIT: update on my ball machine

It is now 15 red rods high Because I added another wheel on the lift, however I found out that its too heavy for one 12V motor to carry up more then 2 balls.

So now I need to buy another motor first...

No Kariah, I have almost never used broken knex, though they do help. The only time I have done this was with my Shell Ejecting knex pistol.

What I meant to say was if the pieces break, not if you break them. Sorry if I didnt ask that correct

The chief reason why connectors break is we overstress them by using every available slot. The slight flexibility of the connector sockets is lost when you fill every slot. Builds are more durable when you leave a little wiggle room. Broken parts and bleeding fingernails are no fun :-(.

I did get broken knex when I first started making guns, I wasn't that good at designing guns that had clear barrels, as a result, some parts broke later on.

Larry, when a part uses every slot available, it is most likely located in the stock, or in a fake barrel, where it is impossible for the firing force to break the knex.

I break a lot of knex, but never when I build.
Its always when I'm taking it apart. I'm not careful enough.

I probably have over 100 pieces of broken knex.

So the tape I put on my AR-4 v3 sucks. The pin still breaks. I use masking tape and the power I put on the gun makes it break once per mag. It shoots fine and all, I just need to get ductape or Etape on the pin.

I finished my ball machine and i'm not taking it down yet.
I am trying to participate in the instructables competition on the ATV. So far I got the front wheels with suspension and steering.

Oops, we have two now.

My largest ball machine to date is Cataclysm,
using 28,538 pieces.

Might build some kind of ball machine in the next two weeks, but at this rate, it probably won't be very big.

But these look cool and the big kne'x wheels are loggy and don't attach as easilly.

The body and everything looks good, but I too am not so fond of the small wheels.

Notice the wheels stuck when steering to the far left or right. (At the red end on the black rod.)

Doesn't look too much different than the small wheels. Maybe just stick to the small ones if they function better.
