I saw this design somewhere, and when I tried to build it, it worked, but it's really unstable. I was wondering if someone could perfect it and show me how to make it. It's a ferris wheel like chainlift.

I don't know how to post a picture of video, so go onto youtube and search "k'nex in the dorm" and that's what I was trying to replicate.

THANKS!

Also, I was able to build the wheel no problem, it was just the track and structure part that was hard.

Please don't double post when the posts are only 4 minutes apart.

That lift is awesome yea. How many ferris wheels did you make? 3? And with what do you need help? Please post some pictures so we can see how far you are.

I'm not having trouble with the actual wheel, just everything else

PICTURES!

The ball doesn't always stay on the wheel as it leaves the track, and, like I said, it's just really unstable

Try using Roller Coaster Track as the base where the ball rolls against, or build rails on the side of it so that the ball can't fall off. You don't have to keep it teh exact same way as the guys your copying. Try improvising a bit. I did a giant lift like this at one time. here is a vid if you want to see how i did it.

From what I see from the pictures is that the point in the picture should be higher and closer to the center so it pushes the ball back, instead of letting it roll off.

Cool, are you going to line more than 1 up? From what I see in the first picture, the support that holds the track (the one sticking out to the left) needs more support; it looks like it's bending down a little bit.

Remember, the circular track should be the same distance from the wheel's axis in all places. If you do that then the lift should work out fine.

Well, I just bought a big ball factory for 20$!! So I might just make a regular ball tower (my first) with a simple chain lift...just for starters.

woah, I payed way more to a friend for his.

oh well, my comment on the pickture is that the support on the left shouldn't be then (one row of knex). build it as wide as the support so u can attach it easilly, if it's stil bending to much, build a diagonal going to the half or to the end of the support (maybe just one diagonal, at the behind side could do the trick)
