This is a discussion on K'nex ball tower/machine record within the K'Nex Dynamics: Vehicles, Ball Towers, and Cranes forum, part of the K'Nex Models Discussion and Construction category; I've been wondering, what is the tallest ball tower/machine (is there eny difference?) so far? I've seen things going to ...

I've seen things going to the ceiling of a 2 floor space or coming in from the outside at the same hight. Caus I want to try building something that lifts it higher (propably not a freestanding tower, but our house sucks to build against) eny info? |

I'm not sure, I had the idea to make the world's highest ball machine sometime, but a chain lift would be hard to put all the way up. I don't even have cranes or scaffolding.

Yeah, scaffolds would come in handy.
And living in a 3 or more story building with large windows would be usefull too. Making a construction on the ground and then pulling it up is almost impossible, you would either need to pull it at every few feet so it doesn't bend or need to make the construction realy strong (which I don't know how exactly) |

The thing troubling me is when something goes wrong "up there"
I don't think it'd be hard to make the tower in a few pieces, attach the chain on the top piece and make it stuck so it doesn't slip away. Then making it longer as you lift the tower higher. Lol, the "longest track" made me think of when I was a kid and constructed a path out of loose pieces of drainage and used a rubber ball or marbles in them. it'd go from the second floor from an old shed in the backyard (some other house where my parents had a shop) Oh, I just thought about something... To install the path, a section of it could be hold out trough the window. Then attaching it to the tower at the top piece (in such a way it can rotate up/down) and then put the tower up a bit away from the house. This way the ball would start at a much higher hight then the room at the first level. Like 7-8 metre/meter. And if the chain isn't long enough or to be more certain it'll work, an alternative lift system could be used at the top section, like the step thing (where the ball switches between left and right the whole time) |

It would suck for a ball to fall out of the very top and hit your head. XD The paths would have to be 100% guaranteed to work. Also, the ground would have to be completely level.
I have a 2 acre yard, so maybe I'll be able to make the longest track, lol.
