Default "Western Coalition" Assault Rifle (construction starts today)

Decided it was my turn to build a gun and i decided on an assault rifle for a few reasons. The main thing i wanted to build is a nice looking gun, but in addition to looking good i wanted it to be as fully functional as possible. I'm experimenting with detachable magazines that are band loaded so that i can detach a mag, re-attach another pre-loaded mag and apply tension in order to expedite the loading process. Here's the picture of the concept weapon i chose:

I plan to build it in a much black as possible, and other pieces will be the darkest colors possible to keep in line as much as possible with the concept art. It'll be 5 units thick but i'm considering adding more width in certain parts to give the illusion that it has more depth.

Good luck, it looks pretty complicated with all the round shapes.

I think Ben is up to the challenge with all his K'Nex experience.

Building a knex gun is a whole new ballpark. the only thing that is guaranteed with his experience is the fact that he can make a large knex gun.

I pretty much suck at anything other than knex guns. Lol.

Well i guess i'll update...

This turned into a heavily modified zak-gun. I'm using the back stock as the cocking device, instead of the handle used on the zak-gun. The trigger is a little modified, and the barrel is much longer. I'm having trouble modifying the mag loader to work on my gun at this point, so i'm not sure if i'll just make it a single-loader or keep trying to work on the loader. It fires pretty well though, so i'm just gonna have to sit down and finish the shaping. It should be pretty nice. Pictures when i get something worth showing finished.

Designing a gun based on a real one will be very difficult as the size may be an issue for certain parts assuming it will shoot like the real thing.
